Pottstown is a borough in Montgomery County, in the Philadelphia-Camden metro area. It was named after John Potts, ironmaster. Pottstown is the center of a productive farming and dairying region. As of the 2000 census the population was 21,859. The borough historically had large industrial and manufacturing employers and today has two major industrial parks. The major recreation attraction is Memorial Park, which is comprised of 120 acres. Other facilities include a public pool, playgrounds, and ball fields. A shopping center along with many small businesses and shops, including a main street shopping district offer plenty for area residents. Pottstown Urban Transit provides access to points in the Greater Pottstown area including the Coventry Mall.
